December Update

December update

I can’t believe that we are in our 4th month together and are heading to our holiday break! We have been very busy this term. Here are a few notable updates:

We will be finishing our class novel for our Language subject, ‘We Are All Made of Molecules’ and will be starting to work on character sketches of the two main characters. In addition, we will be completing a plot diagram of the novel. In addition, we will be completing a critical response paragraph, as well as continuing our examination of Media through advertisements.

In Geography, we will be finishing up our examination of climate and vegetation and beginning Natural resources in the new year.

As a reminder, the last day of school for the Winter Break is Friday December 21. I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday and I hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable winter break.  See you all next year!

November Update

November Update

Time is flying by November is already upon us.

This month, in Language Arts, we are continuing to read our novel, ‘We are All Made of
Molecules’, and discussing and examining themes found within the story line. In addition, we
will be looking at Advertisements and some of the strategies used by the media to market
products and gain consumer interest. Lastly, Book Chats will begin on the week of November
19th. Students should have completed reading their novel and be ready to chat with Mr. Lynde
about the book. We will also be working our critical question and critical responses through various materials. Remember to check our google classroom constantly for announcements and
discussion questions. Make sure that you have submitted a response to all our discussion
questions.

In Geography, we have been examining landforms, Plate Tectonics and its impacts on our world.
We will continue to examine this and begin looking at climate and its impact on our world.

With the weather starting to become colder, all students are reminded to bring a warm jacket,
hats, gloves, outdoor boots and indoor shoes to school. I am looking forward to another month of
great discussions and learning. Keep up the great work!

Welcome

Welcome to the 2018-2019 academic school year! Each month, I will be communicating with both students and parents through our online blog. I encourage everyone to read it as they are posted in order to obtain up to date information on what our class 7D has been up to and what we will be focusing on in the coming months.

As an introduction, my name is Andrew Lynde and this is my second year at CR Marchant. I and married to my wife Alison and we have 2 children, Aiden age 3 and Danielle who is 19 months. We also have an English Bulldog named Putter. I love to play and coach many sports and my favourite sports are hockey and golf. I look forward to getting to know you all a bit better as the year progresses.

September and October will be busy months, where we will be starting our Language Arts and our Geography unit.

My classroom door is always open and am happy to discuss any questions, issues or concerns with you as they may arise. Please do not hesitate to drop in or send me an email.

I’m very much looking forward to the school year and having a successful and productive classroom. All the best for this school year!
